Five Things to Consider When Choosing Your Kits

Our baking and DIY kits have all been thoroughly tested and given the taste tick of approval, however there are a lot to choose from so we understand making a final decision may be tough. To help you select the right kit to try at home or give as a gift, we’ve compiled the following list of things to consider.

1. Equipment available

You don’t have to have the latest, fancy equipment to be successful in the kitchen, but sometimes certain tools will help you achieve the best results. For example, using a stand mixer will help for recipes that require creaming butter and sugar, beating egg whites to form a meringue or for recipes with heavy, dense mixtures. The right sized baking tin can also make a huge difference.

We assume you have some basic equipment available in your kitchen, however for each of our recipes we highlight specific items we recommend you use. You’ll find this list in the Recipe Highlights section in the product description for each kit.

2. Skill level and baking techniques

When selecting your kits, taking your skill level and the techniques used into account is important. Are you new to baking or want your kids to get involved? Melt and mix recipes are a great place to start. But don’t let your level of experience stop you from trying new things! There’s only one way to become a better baker and that is to practice, practice, practice. We provide a brief overview of the method and techniques used in the Recipe Highlights section in the product description for each kit.

3. Flavour and ingredients

Is lemon your thing, or do you need a daily dose of chocolate in your life? Either way, we've got you covered. You can start your search by choosing a product collection from the menu, then once on the product page, you can filter further via the Category drop down.

4. How Much Time You Have

Reading a recipe in advance and planning your baking adventure is one of the most important elements of success. There’s nothing worse than getting started and realising you’re missing an ingredient, you haven’t brought your ingredients to room temperature, you need to chill your dough overnight, or you need to cool something completely before icing it.

We’ve included a guide for how long we believe a recipe will take in the Recipe Highlights section in the product description for each kit.

5. Food Allergens

Do you need to avoid certain foods? Perhaps you need a kit free from wheat or eggs? We have included an allergen statement in the product description of each kit to help you with this consideration.

If you have any specific questions about any of our kits, don't hesitate to get in touch. We're here to help and our goal is to help you enjoy every moment of your baking adventures.
